This entire section of the park is called Islands in the Sky since visitors are on top of a large mesa looking down into the valleys. In the background to the left of center is Ekker Butte. It is 6,226 feet high at the top and is named for the Ekker family who were early ranchers in the area. It is not in the park per se, but rather in the adjacent Glen Canyon National Recreation area. Just to its right are the Orange Cliffs.
