The Green River begins in the Wind River range (near the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone) and joins the Colorado River 20 miles south of this point. The Green River divides the Islands in the Sky District of Canyonlands park from the Mesa District. (Ken and Virginia did not visit the Mesa District since it is mostly unpaved and better suited to 4-wheel drive vehicles.)
